Jairus' Daughter
Jairus' Daughter
Jairus was a ruler
whose little girl was sick.
He went to find the teacher
to come and heal her quick.
While they were going to her
his servant came and cried,
"Sir, don’t trouble the teacher!
Your little girl has died.
"Sir, don’t trouble the teacher!"
Jesus heard the servant tell.
He said, "Don’t be afraid!
Believe – she’ll be made well."
Just Peter, James, and John
the mother and the dad
went into the girl’s house.
The others were outside.
While they were outside mourning,
Jesus told them not to weep.
He told them she is not dead.
He said she’s just asleep.
He told them to stop weeping.
He told them she’s not dead.
He knew that He would raise her,
and she would live instead.
But they ridiculed Him
’cause they knew she was dead.
He left them all outside
and went up to her bed.
He said, "Little girl, arise."
And quickly she sat up
He told her mother to bring her
some food so she could sup.
That was Jairus’ daughter.
The ruler’s child was dead.
But Jesus went and raised her,
and she lived instead.
